Thank you! Honestly, I have seen this happen with my friends and family in terms of side effects and it almost always is directly related to the sugar substitutes in the ingredients! I bet you feel great for cutting out sugar! I've done sugar detox before and it's fantastic. I also use honey and agave but have never tried brown rice syrup is it good? Bottom line, sugar is ultimately sugar no matter what form it comes in and should be used sparingly regardless of if it's natural however if you're going to sweeten something it's best to use the natural form!

I too sometimes forget to read ingredients and then later notice HFCS or other crap ingredients and then throw out full size jars - so annoying! Oh, I know! It's in cough drops, gum etc.. the weirdest places! Fructose is just another form of sugar or 'fruit sugar' an example of natural fructose is a fruit or fruit juice, but it's not a fake sugar so not to worry! However, if you're watching your sugar it will affect your blood sugar levels. So if it's in your protein powder that means there is sugar listed in the nutrition label. Where does it fall in the ingredient list and how many sugars are in there?

Very helpful post! I actually don't use sugar (cut it out a few months ago) and have never bought Stevia, but sometimes add honey to my tea, and have agave syrup & brown rice syrup in case a recipe calls for it. Stevia is $$ and I figure why try to sweeten things unless I REALLY need it.

I do need to be better about reading labels on everything I put into my body though - I just noticed the other day that my Flintstones vitamins have aspartame in them! WTH?! That's crazy! Luckily, I don't use any fake sugars (that I know of) but am curious about Fructose - where does that fall? It's in one of my favorite vegan protein powders.

No problem, I love reading about products too! To be honest, I have never tried any product from Estee Lauder :/ As far as anti-aging, I would definitely use an anti-wrinkle, firming or retinol serum and an anti-wrinkle eye cream. It all depends on how much you want to spend, eye creams and serums tend to be the most expensive out of anything. The good ones can range from 40-100 bucks. I personally like the creamier eye creams as opposed to the watery ones. Brands that I love are: Peter Thomas Roth, Caudalie, MD skincare (this are a little on the pricey side) Caudalies "premier cru eye cream" is awesome but 98 dollars. However it will last you a long time. PTR mega rich intensive eye cream is 65 dollars (on the heavier side) As far as serums, Any serum from Caudalie is amazing and smells amazing. They are loaded with antioxidents. PTR the retinol I'm using now is fantastic. and MD Skincare has a firming serum which is awesome too. So I would suggest going into a sephora or nordstrom, ask for samples and test them out and see which feels best on your skin or if you react etc.. I have sensitive skin so i like to stay away from chemicals and fragrances. If you're going to spend the money I'd say spend it on a good serum and eye cream and you can go 'cheaper' on your moisturizer. I spent 8 dollars for my organic vitamin E oil and thats what I use daily.
